26 students from Cultural Exchange Committee visited The Harvey School in Katonah on February 26, Tuesday. They had a great time experiencing a regular day at an American high school. The below is a comment from one of the participated students.

“It was my first time to visit Harvey School. Harvey school is a private school located in NY and most of its students are commuters. As we arrived there, the principal of Harvey School, who spoke beautiful Japanese guided us to the fascinating facilities such as the private practice room with musical instruments and the gym. My partner, Brian who is a junior plays soccer and tennis. After the school tour, we took three classes. The first one was American History. The class was focused more on a discussion rather than a lecture which I found very exciting. The next class we took was Pre-Calculus. I was quite surprised by how the teacher called out each student’s name and their grade in the classroom where everyone was. None of them seemed to mind to share what grade they got. The last class I took was Japanese in which we had some Japanese conversations. There were quite many students taking Japanese. After the class, we had Taco at the school cafeteria. They seemed to like their Cafeteria very much and the people worked there were actually nice to us. I would like to participate in the Home-Staying program if they offer one during the spring.” (Yusaku Fujiki, 12E)

The article regarding this event is uploaded on the local website of the Harvey School, “Bedford-Katohah Patch”.
