Participated in Regional High School Art Exhibition

Keio 12th grade students Anzu Oikawa, Daisuke Hashimoto, and Manami Asano exhibited their art at the January 13 – 29th exhibition where Anzu Oikawa won an art prize for her painting. More than sixty art students from regional high schools took part in the exhibition. Congratulations Anzu and her fellow Keio art students!

The Honorable Mention Winner at JICA International Cooperation Junior High/High School Student Essay Contest 2011!

Another accomplishment we are proud of is found at the announcement of JICA Internatiional Cooperation Junior High/High School Student Essay Contest. Ms. Yoshino Sakurai (12th grade) won the Honorable Mention in High School Student section (25,359 applicants). The total number of applicants was 75,662. Congratulations!! For this contest, at this moment the only Japanese URL is available as well.

Yoshino also won the Honorable Mention at the 11th annual Internet High School Student Essay contest organized by Mainichi Newspapers last November.

The Honorable Mention Winner at Shinzo Koizumi National High School Essay Contest!

An awards ceremony was held at Mita campus of Keio University for the 36th annual Shinzo Koizumi National High School Essay Contest on January 10th, 2012. Ms. Mihoko Miyasaka (12th grade) won the Honorable Mention among 405 applicants.

Food Drive

Student goverment, dorm council and volunteer club students conducted food drive at a supermaket in Mamaroneck on Sunday December 11. The students started early in a cold morning weather, uniformed students passionate pledges were kindly responded by the local shoppers in form of 8 over flowing shopping carts full of food items.　All the foods were donated to Mamaroneck food pantry.　Our students were happy to receive many thanks and encouragements from local shoppers.

Toy Drive

On Thursday December 8 at Community Opportunity Center of Tarrytown our student representatives handed out toys donated through the toy drive at gift giving party.Through ”Westchester Community Opportunity Program Inc.” Keio Santa’s gave out toys donated through the toy drive to children experiencing economic distress. Zion students also performed.
We would like to extend most sincere thank you to all the caring and generous Keio Academy of New York community members who have donated toys and cash for this year’s toy drive effort.

MasterCard International Invited Student Groups To Their Asian Cultural Awarness Event

After School on October 27, Karate and Zion club students were invited to perform at Asian cultural awareness event held at MasterCard Headquarter.

Many MasterCard employees attended the event. After introductory speech by the headmaster, Karate students followed by Zion dancers performed. The audiences were very impressed by students’ very energetic performance; there were many “Wows” heard through out their performance.
