・Residential Life

Q. Can I stay in the same dorm room as my friend?

A. We will try to combine a Japanese and non-Japanese participant into one room because this is a bilingual and bicultural program. We will also consider participants’ backgrounds as well.

Q. Can I go home during the weekend? Can I stay out overnight away from the dorm?

A. No. This is a residential program. We will have activities after dinner time as well as on the weekends.

Q. Can I have a visitor during the program?

A. No. Due to liability as well as program coordinating issues visitors are not allowed during the program. However, towards the end of the program we will invite participants’ family members for an open house.

Q. I cannot understand Japanese. Am I eligible for the program?

A. Yes. We will conduct this program mainly in English, so you will not have a problem. You don’t have to have Japanese language experience and skills because we will organize Japanese language and culture classes according to your language level. Daytime communication will be supported by our bilingual teachers and moderators. You can enjoy communication with your Japanese classmates in both English and Japanese.

Q. How much spending money should I bring?

A. Since the cost of all the meals and scheduled events are included in the program fee, we discourage the participants from bringing large sums of cash. Some money is needed for extra food and beverage during activities, as well as for souvenirs.
