The Student Center Opening Ceremony and Reception took place on September 2nd, 2017.
In attendance were our esteemed donors; representatives from the general contractor Shimizu America and the parent company Shimizu Corporation; Mayor of Harrison, Mr. Ron Belmont; New York State senator, Mr. George Latimer; representatives of Keio Gijuku, including Keio University President Akira Haseyama, and Vice President and Chairperson of Keio Academy of New York Jiro Kokuryo; Keio Academy Board members; and Keio Academy faculty and staff.
The ceremony included the presentation of a gift from Executive Vice President and Representative Director of Shimizu Corporation Mr. Koichiro Higashide to Prof. Haseyama. Professor Haseyama then gave the Ceremony Address, and Mr. Higashide gave a congratulatory speech. To close, the Chorus Club gave a spectacular rendition of the school song, “Thoughts Beyond”.
The festivities were then taken to the second floor for a reception honoring the generous and fruitful contributions of the donors. There, the audience members were greeted by Prof. Kokuryo, the Headmaster of Keio Academy, Mr. Fumihiko Kono, Mayor Belmont, Senator George Latimer and a representative of the donors, Mr. Masato Yoshinaga.
The closing remarks were given by Prof. Kokuryo, who thanked the attendees once again for their contributions in memorializing Keio Academy’s 25 years of success in such a special way, and looked forward to the next phase of the fundraising campaign to ensure the future success of the Academy.
