About 10 percent of Keio Academy of New York students commute from home. School buses are operated by the school or the school districts the students live in. (Please visit our Daily Transportation page for details regarding buses.) These commuter students return home at the end of each school day, but are made to feel as much a part of the Keio Academy of New York community as boarding students, taking part in extracurricular activities and other social events and activities after classes.
Commuter students are represented by the Commuter Council, members of whom they elect each year. Their concerns and wishes can be expressed to the school through these elected members.
Commuters are required to drop off their commuter IDs when they arrive at school and pick them up when they leave school. This is so that in the event of an emergency, commuters can be properly accounted for even after school or on the weekends when classes are not in session.
